I have overcome substance use since 2009. I come to you with experience of sustained recovery, street smarts, an educated professional, and I have been trained by Dr. Caroline Leaf.
I started my journey when the emotional pain became greater than the high. My mental state was in chaos. I always loved God but my dilemma was using drugs and loving God. Well God never left me. I surrendered my will to God. I went into treatment and the therapist said "Do you know you can control your thoughts"? What took place next was the supernatural experience of the Holy Spirit renewing my mind. Divine Transformational Thinking.
I learned of Dr. Caroline Leaf's teachings in 2012. I am walking testimony of her teachings. In 2016 I was her guest for an episode titled, “Trauma Addiction and Breaking Free” which aired on TBN.
Through Dr. Leaf's 5-Step Process of the Neurocycle, I learned how to identify: the root issue; the damaging thoughts stemming from that root; and what memories and emotions are attached to those thoughts; enabling me to acknowledge my toxic thinking and keeping myself trapped with embedded memories. I learned how to reconceptualize the toxic thoughts that empowered me to control them. I have learned the skills to overcome some of my trauma which has freed me from worthlessness and self-hatred. Amen.
I control my thoughts. My thoughts do not control me.
